From a historic, ethnographic, and architectural perspective, Kreta Ayer contains a wealth of treasures that are worthy of reexamining and reviving, as they nurtured the communities' collective memories which are both cultural and social.  This shared sense of place and sense of history formed the foundation for a future Singapore that embraces a multi-racial and multi-religion society, and this merits proper investigation and protection in order to preserve and also to uphold its relevance into the 21st Century.
