Multi-Generational Appeal

We propose complementing the theatres with relevant programs and services that support the new district and can also attract multiple generations, especially the young.

These programs would reflect the activities that were significant and prevalent in the area’s past, including education, crafts – making, street performances, and adapted to meet the proposed plans.  The performing arts schools for varying ages would support Singapore and the region’s talents.

The curated green and public spaces will encourage street performances and bring back the spirit of the past. Spaces for crafts could flourish again with emphasis on theatre production. Moreover, we recommend bringing in boutique hotels to complete the experience for cultural visitors.  

Finally, the theatres themselves could also foster the proposed activities as they could be utilized differently at various times of the day. For example, during the day the theater spaces     could be used by the schools for practice and production and can function as classrooms.
