To understand the feasibility of overlaying a cultural, entertainment district we analyzed case studies from other cities.

 

We found that current “Chinatown” has the elements needed for such district including, access to public transit, existing high pedestrian and tourist traffic, and buildings with theatre capacity, and supporting businesses.

 

With the support of both public and private investment, Kreta Ayer can become Singapore's unique theatre district.
